About the Job:
Peak Energy is looking for an Electrical Engineering Lead – Energy Storage Systems (ESS) to lead the development of our gigawatt scale battery electrical and controls systems. This role will own the rationale for and implementation of Peak’s electrical systems design and will work with the other design and manufacturing teams along with external partners to provide design direction and engineering implementation leadership. This person is both a leader and a doer.
Responsibilities:
- Act as technical lead for the electrical design of Peak’s HV ESS from early architecture through continuous improvement
- Lead development of Peak’s BMS, power electronics and supervisory control through internal and external development cycles
- Define and spearhead selection and development of tools, infrastructure and design practices for a growing team
- Play a key role in developing and managing Peak’s electrical component sourcing strategy, balancing short and long term goals
- Develop and manage electrical component requirements
- Strong ownership, ensuring success of testing, system integration, production, validation and production of Peak products
- Spearhead growth of the electrical design team and mentor more junior members in the greater organization
- Drive and participate in a culture of rapid protoyping and testing

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
- 10+ years of experience working with HV systems
- Strong electrical and controls engineering fundamentals
- Familiarity with high voltage system design
- Proficiency in electrical engineering tools (e.g., SPICE, Altium, Matlab)
- Experience with design and manufacturing of medium to high volume products
- Hands on prototyping, validation and testing experience
- Eligible to work in the U.S.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong knowledge of battery chemistry, BMS (Battery Management Systems), and relevant electrical and safety standards.
- Power electronics design experience
- Supervisory control design experience
- Utility-scale energy storage systems experience
